Example of Friction Facing Information Sheet

MATERIAL DESCRIPTION
A greenish-gray composite resillent organic or 'paper' type material, designed for use in wet or oil-immersed applications.

This material has a moderately high coefficient of friction and reasonably well-controlled static-to-dynamic friction. It also exhibits excellent wear resistance when used in appropriate applications.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

  • Moderate to high energy range clutches
  • Static holding brakes
  • Moderate energy direct clutches
  • Low to moderate energy positioning brakes and retarding or 'drag' brakes (with proper forced cooling)
GENERAL FRICTION PROPERTIES
(in typical automatic gearbox fluids)
Dynamic Coefficient :0.125 - 0.14
Static Coefficient :0.11 - 0.15
(lock to slip condition)
Facing Pressure :Less than 3.0 MPa
for dynamic conditions
Less than 5.5 MPa
for static conditions
Values are approximate and may vary in specific
applications and lubricants.
